still happy with my new jeep...but
So the 4wd I thought worked...doesn't. It shifts into the different selections fine, and the dash lights come on, but I was stuck in wet grass in 4wd. Um, apparently it doesn't work. Any thoughts at all? I'm assuming if the transfer case was shot, it would grind or not move at all. All the shafts are hooked up, so I'm not sure exactly what to diagnose first.i'm not sure if a linkage is undone, first time with a jeep t-case,so I'm not sure what all is involved. I have tomorrow night with no wife and kids, so I will have time to wrench tomorrow. Thanks

like's been said, if you have a slightly older model of jeep it has the vacuum disconnect for the front differential, and a vacuum leak or disconnected line would cause it not to work.

does it "feel" like its going into 4wd? what about 4-Lo does that work? My friend had a similar issue and he ended up having a problem with his linkage for the transfer case. He could shift it into 4wd from inside but the T-case would still be in 2wd.
No, it does'nt feel like it's engaging at all. I'm thinking the linkage to, but I'm looking to get all the thoughts I can on it before tomorrow. None of them work. I tried tonight and got nothing but rear wheel spin in wet grass. LOL
