Hey all I'm having some over heating problems and would appreciate your guy's opinions on it. I've done a lot of searching read some threads and tried a lot of it but nothing has seemed to do much good yet. its a 2001 Jeep Cherokee sport automatic with the inline 6. i started having the overheating problem at the end of summer last year so I added some coolant cause it was low and thought I had fixed it. now that its warm again it started up so i noticed the water pump was leaking and changed it. I have flushed the system, put in a new pump, cleaned the hoses, put in fresh coolant, and added hood vent without any success yet. I really have no idea where to go from here other than upgrading the whole cooling system with a triple fan setup and three row radiator but I'm really not looking to spend all that money right now. Any thoughts or ideas would be awesome. Thanks

We need to know where it's overheating at.
IE:
Driving around town or on the trails?
Freeway?
Hills?
It should only be 1 of those 3 unless it's just running hot overall everywhere.
What is your perception of running hot or "Over-heating" (How hot temp wise)?

Hey sorry I disappeared for a while there. It's mainly overheating driving around town. And by overheating I mean either it has to cool before it will let me start it back up or it starts with a really rough idle and almost dies out if I don't give it some gas

The rough start is likely do to heat soak on the #3 and 4 objectors due to their proximity to the exhaust manifold. I have the same problem when I'm trail ridding and shut it off. For the cooling I had issues like yours but about a week ago I installed a dirt bound offroad triple fan kit and I never pass operating temp
