Default Stereo problems

Alright i know this is a minor issue but hey i gotta have my JAMS while rollin so here it is. My 2000 has a major stereo issue yesterday i was listening to the tape player (no cd player) and it cut out so i just thought it was the tape player so i switched to the AM/FM mode and everything worked fine. So today i went out and investigated and the tape player played fine but something seemed odd to me so i was playing with the balance and fade you know this things that you can adjust so that only the rear spreakers play or the front or each side. After doing this i found that the passenger side speakers work fine but then when i switch it to the drivers side speakers they are very low they still work but very softly. Im thinking it may be a loose connection somewhere but im also wondering of there is a set of wires that goes to the drivers side and where the major connections would be

Any help would be great thanks a lot

And if anyone has a stereo wiring diagram that would be great too

Thanks, Al

Yeah each speaker has it's own wires..My suggestion is simple..pull the radio and run new wires to the drivers side and bypass the existing ones completely..This is what I did when I put a new stereo and speakers in..No point in trying to trace the wire in that rats nest of wires just make it simple and run new ones..

basically you have 3 possibilities...1) bad wires 2) Bad speaker 3) bad radio.

New speaker wire is the cheapest test/fix.. Now if you want to trace it you simply need to pull the speaker out and see what color the speaker wires are.. Then look for that wire under the dash as it runs to the head unit..

get a new cd player and wire it in. if that don't work run new wires, like already suggested. cd players now a days a cheap and a good upgrade, have more power and sound better than factory. with yours being a 2000 model i don't see it being a bad wire, unless one has got pinched in the door jam, i see it being more on the radio side. my factory cd unit did the same thing - lost the drivers side, then it stoped reading cds then it would get loud and then turn itself down - replaced it with a 90.00 sony and all was good.
