Default Stereo problems

Over the weekend my sterio quit working. I checked all the fuses in the unit itself and under the dash. The lanel light still comes on but the animation and display is blank. I hooked up an old stereo and it worked for a minute then it went blank too. I think its something wrong with the wires attaching the stereo to the jeep harness. I was wondering if there was anything i am forgetting to check? or if i fried my stereo wiring and if so can i get a new connector wiring or if i have to buy a new stereo?

Ok, first, Is this a stock unit or an aftermarket?

If it is an aftermarket, did YOU (personally) install it.
And have you checked all in-line fuses.
