Since you have an airbag I don't think you are able to.

You can, you will have to take the fuse out of the controller. Your airbag light will be on.

Don't know about that. I do know people who have bought salvage title cars where the bags were deployed and never recharged and they registered them...

I would like to know this as well. Being a fan of very small steering wheels, I wonder if there is a safe way to remove the airbag without having it explode in my face.

Of course in the event of an accident I'm sure the insurance company won't want to pay anything.

In any state where a vehicle must be inspected an airbag light is a fail. Do the right thing and fix it the RIGHT way. It may be ur life or that of a loved one.

Thanx for ur input. Does it matter if its a swap ? The airbag is there for a reason. I had one save my life and I don't think disconnecting it and possibly breaking state law would be prudent. U must be around 25 and still feel indestructible.

Aw, you got all upset with me because I pointed out nothing needed fixing.

How cute!

How about you actually read all the posts, and how about you pay attention to the fact that I brought up the legal issues of removing the modification.

I don't care if the OP is dumb enough to rid himself of a safety product, its his life. Not mine.

And you also obviously haven't considered this being a trail only rig, where something like an airbag could deploy when not needed, causing serious injury.

But thanks for the input.

So as a moderator u take it upon urself to judge safety issues and try to poke fun at people who think safety is important. How sad. I think the government and congress especially are looking for people just like u. seems u missed ur calling.

You have to disable the electronics and be VERY CAREFUL! I have taken steering wheels off cars with airbags to change.lock cylinders. I have yet to have one go off but it would not be fun! Use your manual it will tell you how. Also I don't have airbags.... cars didn't have airbags for years and years. I'm all for safety but it is your head.... myself I wouldn't have an issue taking it off. It is not endangering anyone else on the road and many people have gotten hurt from airbags. Thy have also saved many lives. Just saying I have no objection to a mod as long as it doesn't endanger others. To each his own.

Please point out the part where it says "trail rig only" on the part of the OP. I seem to see " register"- "insureance"-" payment from Ins" "

On any vehicle with a deployment system before service disconnect the battery and wait at least 15 minutes.
