I just got my 2000 XJ and when I turn corners at speed as I turn back straight it's not smooth, it's "notchy". No other issues just wanted to know if it could be serious.
Thanks

Is it stock or lifted? Sounds like a castor problem.
Could also be a lot of things..
Tie rod ends, trac bar, tires, ball joints.
If its lifted I'm guessing castor.

^I agree with these guys ^
Just had a similar problem. It was was my lower ball joints (original with 180k miles). They were dried out and binding when turning left or right.
It felt like it was hard to turn the wheel at a certain point, then if you turned past that point the jeep would shoot over more than you intended. Kinda like a grab and release deal. Ended up replacing all four ball joints and axle u joints and haven't had problems since.
Could also be air in the power steering pump, is it whining at all?
