Hey guys,

I have a 98 2dr 4.0 and in the past couple of weeks I've noticed a little hesitation from my starter, Especially during the heat of the day. Yesterday evening It had a little trouble starting but did. This morning it struggled but finally started, After a 45 minute commute I turned it off and tried to restart and nothing. All I'm getting now is a clicking noise and I'm pretty sure its the starter but figured I would double check just in case. And the battery seems to be fine because I still have lights and the radio plays.

 

Sounds like battery is gone. More than likely due to the alternator. Get the alternator checked. Just a suggestion

 

Yeah clicking is usually the batteries dead. Easy way to test is swap out a different battery just to check (or charge current one) if it starts fine it's the battery not getting charged after starting. If not then start looking into starters and always check the wires leading to and away anything electrical before replacing.

 

You guys were right, It was the battery. And I'm gonna get the alternator checked too.
