starter problems please help!
my jeep starts perfect all the time. and every now and then i would have to shake the shifter to get it to start. tonight i get out of work and it wont start. the shifter trick didnt work at all. i have no idea what to even consider. I hit my starter to see if it froze or something. my power wires are all checked. Any suggestions?
Thank you in advance

As it used to start after shaking the shifter, you might have a problem with the switch that detects your car is in neutral. The NSS (neutral safety switch)

Firmly apply the parking brake & try to start it in neutral if it has an auto trans. Also are you sure the battery isn't dead or low.

Agree with NSS as primary suspect. IF moving shifter allows it to start, almost assuredly the NSS.
Try disassembling/cleaning/greasing/adjusting as outlined in the link provided.
