Starter Problem? Maybe not? ...help please!
I have a 98 jeep cherokee. I went out one day and tried to start her and there was just clicking my battery was fine so i figured its just the starter i went out got a new one replaced it and then the starter was igniting but turning over, i beat it with a hammer and she started right up so i went in and traded for another new starter and at first everything was fine! I went to the store then class she was running great! then after class she was just turning over...someone help me please...

i had the same clicking noise...turn the key and all i got what click..click..click..bought a new battery, still would'nt start. mechanic said my starter was fine. my battery terminals were corroded, but even after cleaning them, no luck. eventually he found the problem, the terminal adapters, since they were old and worn, it wasn't fully touching the battery terminals, so he put a piece of metal between the battery terminal and the terminal adapter, started right up. just a temperary fix, but worked good.
hopefully its as simple as that with yours. good luck.

thanks i hope its as simple as that i'll try it my battery terminals are pretty messed up and corroded...never gave me a problem before but hey it could happen!
I ment that I turn the key and the starter goes then it sounds almost like its just not catching like it wants to start but just can't I was worried about my fuel pump, it could also be my alternator, I just realized today when i try to start it several times in a row my battery gets drained...any thouhgts on this or another possiblity?

If your battery terminals are corroded they will not allow sufficient batttery power to flow to the starter. You would get the clicking sound. Enough power to click the solenoid but not enough to engage the starter.
Clean or replace your battery cables. Charge your battery and have it load tested at Autozone or other shop. You could have a weak battery. Do not worry about the alternator until you get the engine running.
