Stalling issue – need some help

So its been pretty much smooth sailing until this morning......

Gas was under 1/4 tank and the Jeep started to act up a little. Nothing major, just some hints like it wanted to stall, but didn't.

Filled up with premium and still had a few shakes here and there, but less than before the fill up.

So.....starting to think I have crap in the bottom of the tank and that the previous owner used regular fuel consistently. Not saying that its a "must" to run premium always, but at least once every 3 to 4 fill-ups would not hurt to put the higher grade in (IMO).

So, gonna head to the parts store and grab some more Chenron Techron. Also checked the BG website and local garage in town has the 44K, but they was $30 for a can. I feel almost forced to go get it as I want my driveability issue resolved.......but $30?? That's just rough!

Can anyone tell me how much a can should cost more or less?

We sell them for $34.

And regular isnt any worse than premium for a jeep, all the octane rating means is how thorough of a burn you will get. Its a jeep, not a race car.

Ok....so $30 I guess isn't so bad then. Will head down there in a few since I am working from home today and will have to address this issue.

I just feel like it runs a little "smoother" with the higher octane fuel.

And as for the 44K and the Techron......due I need to use one at a time or can I toss in a bottle of the Techron, go for a cruise, then come back and toss in the 44k?

And can I just use a funnel to pour the 44K into the tank?

I wouldnt mix, read the 44k directions well. Use a funnel as consumer bottles dont come with the end funnels. And do not get it on your paint, I had a little mishap with that on my cummins and didnt notice it right away, lets just say I had to get under the gas cap cover re-clearcoated.

Regular funnel will work, right?

Would you suggest the Chevron today, then toss in the 44K on next fill up?

Yes. And Honestly, you dont want to over do it. I do techron every 3k and BG44k every 17k.

OK.....I will do one bottle of Techron today, then do the 44K during the week.

I'll stick to your recommended intervals too.

Mind you they coat parts with varnish after cleaning them, so doing it so often will have no performance effect, just decreased performance in your wallet.

I might try that Teckron/BG44K treatment. I also noticed that by using premium gas instead of regular (85 octane here in Northern Utah) I had a bit of a smoother idling....
I have the Rennix engine and manual transmission and yesterday i decided to take the vacuum lines to the EGR off and clean them (with wead eater stings) and noticed a bit of improvement too....
I have also unplugged all the injectors wires and some of them where dirty and corroded (oxidized rather) and after cleaning and brushing it did sound a little better .... probably a placebo effect....

I've used the Chevron Techron even before meeting Diesel, so was happy to hear its a solid product.

I've heard mixed reports on the Seafoam.....so didn't want to venture down that road.

Ergh. Thats not nice lol

And yes, smoother idle due to a more thorough burn in the cylinder. Regular will not do any more damage than premium though.

Ok….new update.

So I felt as though things were improving, but had a little drivability hiccup yesterday.

It was pretty hot, so decided to run the AC once I picked my son up. Had the AC on full blast since I am missing the vacuum tank in the front bumper and its only coming out the defrost at the moment.

Come to a traffic light and once it turns green, attempt to start driving off. The idle drops and is fighting to stay up, engine is barely staying on. The whole time I am giving gas (tapping quickly) to try and keep it from stalling.

After about 30 seconds or so of this, I let off the gas and the revs jump to like 2K. I put it in first and drive off.

So……to continue the mystery of my Jeep woes…….any idea what happened here? Also been meaning to ask…..would a missing vacuum tank cause any of these issues? I thought it was merely for the HVAC system?
