She running! Like a champ! I'm sooo happy, thank you guys!!!

I bought the gasket, store was open but wasn't answering the phone.

I bought a new distributor from Autozone (Duralast Gold brand), my usual parts store (Advance Auto) on had the rebuilt one. Freegdr taught me to not go cheap on parts.

She was flooded at first but I cleared all that out, now she's smoother than ever!

Well I'm glad to see this adventure concluded without a tow. But is this a victory? You dove into a repair that did not need to be made and almost cost yourself an expensive mop up job at a local repair shop. Since the old distributor turned freely upon removal you essentially bought parts and disabled your ride for days over a misdiagnosed noise. This could have been a disaster. As it was, you spent hours and days blindly fiddling with a system that you had no clue about its operation. Please...... Before you tear into your rig again, research your issue and the system thoroughly before you start ripping out components. There are far better ways you can experience the joy of vehicle maintenance that are within the realm of a novice.

When j was a teenager I bought repair manuals and read them like textbooks so that I understood the machines before I pulled out the wrenches. Even after that I had to tackle simple systems before the complex ones. It's just good sense to work within your knowledge and abilities..... Unless you got a lot of scratch in your wallet.

Actually, when I pulled the old dizzy the second time it was dead stuck. I guess it was sticking intermittently, explains why the squeal was intermittent. Thanks.

Hang on to that old distributor. It can be disassembled and possibly repaired.

I will, but Is it likely that I am going to need to replace the distributor again?

Why would I need to repair it after buying a new one? But, I guess I am a pro now so I might just repair it in my sleep.

OMFG...I'm spent after reading this. After not paying attention to this since before Christmas.

Freegdr...you win the Patience award for 2014-15...I would have shot a kitten in the face by now...

WNJE...I'm glad you finally figured it out. It seems to me you have a hard time with terminology, and comprehension of what's being told to you because of it. I will give you a small piece of advice...look into taking some auto courses at your local community college...it doesn't cost much, and will be of great value, you will get to learn the basics, have a complete shop at your disposal, and knowledgeable instructors to guide you when you get stuck, in real time, not internet time. I know you have a job, and have kids, and time is scarce, but I work full time, go to school full time, and deal with everyday life too. It can be done. Just a suggestion.
