Default Squeak or chirping while driving.

My brother recently gave me his 95, v6 cherokee, it's at about 207,000 miles and has been been making a squeaking or chirp noise mainly while going 45 mph or above. He says it is probably to do with something in the engine and is sure it's not the belt. Other than that it runs just fine for a daily driver. I'm just wondering if anyone else has had the same problem or knows what it might be.

If you rev the engine in neutral do you hear it at all? If you're at 45+ and put it in neutral, does the sound change at all?

If it's only happening with a certain speed (and is independent of engine RPM and load), then it's more than likely something with the wheels or tires. This could be wheel bearings, axle or driveshaft u-joints, the tires themselves, etc.

Edit - Also, it's an I6 (Inline 6, rather than V6)
