speedometer,tachometer randomly go down

I have a 2001 XJ, 171,000 miles. Sometimes as I'm driving, the speedometer and tachometer go down to zero (my other gauges all still work), and the spot that lists the mileage changes to a weird message that looks like "no bu5". Any ideas?

Same issue here. Only happened once though on a heavily washboarded dirt road. They came back when I hit a huge pothole towards the end.

With the palm of your right hand, give it a pushing hit on the black plastic to the right of the guages... the connections coming loose. Mine does the same. I'm not joking... try it.
