i just replaced my speedometer tooth gear and i noticed something else broken on the inside. i think it the piece that spins the speedometer gear. does anyone know what it is called. ill have a pic of it shortly.

i found these 3 piece inside. when i was replacing my 3.55 speedo gear. i think that why my speedometer isnt working.

could it be my ring/ pinions?

 

That is definitely the gear that sits on the main output shaft that turns the speedo gear. No idea what it's called. If someone on here doesn't, either, you could try contacting a company that makes proper SYEs as these are included in many of those kits. Ring/pinion is referring to the gearing in the axle differentials.

 

It's called a speedo drive gear and comes from a 241 case out of 1 ton pickup. I have an extra one I'll sell you brand new in wrapping. Pm me if you want it.
