speedometer cable
Believe it or not I can not find where the speedometer cable goes into the trans. 2wd 1992 4.0 with 4spd auto trans. speedo quit. I find what should be it at the rear of the trany BUT it is 2 wires! Help before I get a ticket!

you have a signal generator not a cable. what you said you found is in all likely hood the wires that send the info to the speedo via the computer. it attaches with one bolt and you want to do a search before you pull it. there is not much to it , but if you dont know what you are looking for on your jeep you will need to know how to clock it if you replace the gear (if that is why it stoped working) hope this helps

the thumbs down helps a lot. I thought this was a place to ask questions & maybe get a constructive answer. I have found out that in 1993 they started using a electronic speedometer. But this is a 2wd 1992. Looks to me that it has the "VSS" (?) system.

ya that confirms what I have just figured out. No wonder the parts house didn't have a cable for it. So it could be the gauge in the dash or the sender unit. ....or the wires......I'm gonna double check if its plugged in good:-)
