Exclamation Speed sensor/speedometer

Hey there! Hoping one of you Jeep pros can help me on this one! I got a 98 Jeep Cherokee! Well about a week ago my speedometer started to tweek out on me But none of my other guages are doing it! When i start to drive down the road my speedometer will start to bounce all over the place.. it only happens when im in gear! Would that be the speed sensor or a short some where! Can anyone please help me on this!?? I heard the cherokees are known for those speed sensor to trip out like that! Can someone push me in the right direction? please and THANK YOU

Got me. I think there are connectors, including to the speed sensor there behind the dipstick somewhere. Wire connections cause allot of problems..that's all I've got....

Ah....so the thick plottens! You should have them put the radio back. So I'm just curious, (and it maybe helpful to someone who has a clue), does the speedo work if you shift to neutral while you are moving, and, do your reverse lights work? (parked of course!)

Did you ever get a resolution to this? I have a 98 2wd 4.0 and my speedo just sits at zero. Code p0500 vehicle speed sensor "A" I changed the sensor and still no dice?
