The head unit works fine. And my subwoofer even works like normal. When i first put the key in the ignition and turn it forward the rear drivers speaker will make a static noise for a couple seconds... Than i can turn the volume up and i dont get any sound. But the subwoofer plays like normal.

Sounds like a short to me. Any idea where i should start looking?

Might be. My drivers door just started doing something similar: It wouldnt make any noise, but if I CRANKED it, it MIGHT come on. Then other times, it would all of the sudden make the LOUDEST (hum/static) noise ever. Youd almost crash. Ive got aftermarket speakers in it and I pulled it today, and while I was doing it it would come on and off, then make the noise, over and over. So I clipped the 2 wires. SCREW IT! Ill rewire it when its not pouring out. My garage is full of furniture Im making and I dont have any room to bring her in and work on it.

I have a multimeter... But im not quite sure how to use it yet haha. I wanted to test the power to all of the speakers. Or maybe a resistance test. Im not sure.

Ok i went out and bought a new alpine HU. And to my dismay, Same issue. NO speaker noise, but the Subwoofer works like normal.

Since its a floating ground system... (independent gorunds for each speaker). How can a short or a bad ground cause all 4 speaker not to work? Im stumped.

rewire the speakers straight from the new head unit. that will fix it. quite simple to do

I was going to try that, Maybe just just use some bullet connectors.

You really think the problem is within that connector though?

It's a bad connection somewhere. Probably a bad ground. I had an amp and 4 speakers in my integra and it did pretty much the same thing. Also made weird noises like humming and buzzing. Turned out the ground wasnt good enough. The metal can't be painted. If it is you have to scrape the paint off and get to the metal. I did it and problem solved. Wiring the speakers right up to the head unit will work too.

It could be a ground... But i just thought that if the deck operates like normal and so did the preouts for the sub, than so would everything else. But i guess the preouts are sending out a signal and not AC power from the internal amp.

anybody know where the stock ground wire is attached to the jeep? Might save me some time digging around the dash.

Well ive been chasing wires all afternoon. Ive tried 3 different grounds instead of the stock location... Same thing, no change. So that eliminates the ground as the cause. Now Im going to "hardwire" the HU to the stock wires (eliminating the stock harness plugs"... Thats pretty much the last thing that i can think of to try.

SUCCESS! The direct wiring worked. Really weird that those after market connectors just stop working though.
