Default Speakers not working

This is my first post on here so I hope I’m in the right section with this question. I recently bought a 2001 sport and the front and rear speakers are not working. The stereo (aftermarket the PO put in) seems to be working fine. Could it be a bad connection at the stereo or do I need to look at completely rewriting all 4 speakers? A couple other concerns on the topic of electronics are the drivers side lock switch not working, and the passenger side front window not working from any switch. Any help would be appreciated, especially with speakers. God bless.

Issues with the door wiring are common for both speakers and the window/lock switches not working as they should. There is also the possibility the PO hacked the wiring for the head unit when they put it in. But the door wiring is worth a look.

Sorry to thread jack a bit, is THAT what that weird a$$ loom under my rear seat is for? There's a loom under my rear bench in my new-to-me XJ, and I was scratching my head over what it could be for...

Also, my front speakers (both) don't work, but the rear ones in the trunk-headliner are just fine..... fun stuff!

Northerner- Check the wires that go towards the speakers, going through the door. The wires can break with age and opening and closing doors.

Evan- do you get any noise at all from the stereo to the speakers (crackles, pops)? If there is an amp, this could be part of the problem.
