i have a 2000 cherokee sport and my front speakers are not working. i read that there is a common problem with the front speaker wiring in cherokees that cause the speakers not to work. i was wondering how to tell if the wiring is bad and also the stock speaker sizes for the front and rear speakers.

The wires usually fray in the door boot. I had the same problem, ran new wires from the head unit and haven't had an issue since.

As for speaker size, I just bought Kenwood Kfc-p709ps components which are 6.5" speakers. They fit right in my 98 XJ Sport. The rear if i remember correctly are the same size.

Yep I had the wire breakage in the door boot too. I saudered new wires in and left some extra slack so it wouldn't happen again.

x2 on the bad wiring. I had the same problem on my 2000. Just run new wires to the doors and you are good to go. Use a heavier gauge wire so that it doesn't happen again. I also replaced my speakers recently. The stock speakers are 5.25" but I installed 6.5" pioneers all the way around without any trouble. (Also threw in a JL Audio sub in the back for a little sumpin' extra!)
