Question Caveman needs tech advice

Hi all, I'm a cherokee owner, driver abuser from the tropical isl of Barbados W.I now livin on a remote island in BC Canada. been rockin a 1984 0r 5 Chrerokee with a pristine sky blue body with a lil 400,000 kms on it.........till now, Its just given up. I had problems with the key start so wired it straight to the starter....had ta pop the hood every time n wire it to da positive terminal , but hey, it worked for a year that way. Engine is good runnin, auto gears good, jus the electrics are confusing as hell. Censors fa dis n dat n everyting unda da sun man. So she's now a dead body........boo hoo.
Are there any kits ta get a carb or a dist with points n condensor n f......off with all da otha crap? I jus need a good simple 4x4 for workin on the mountain here. no worries of emissions etc as she is an islandmountain land gal.
I got 3 o the beasties here, a limited one a sport n my ole (till now) faithful pionneer, 2 o dem fa parts, n ma one sweet gal fa drivin, but dis electrical ting have me brain confused guys! Heeeelp............

im assuming its the crappy chevy 2.8L. look into a chevy 3.4 swap. bolts right in.

good write up here^^

wont fix your elec probs, but it will get rid of that turd under the hood!......could fix your elec probs if you swap to fuel injection. (doubt it)

4 cyl or v6? You have a starter solenoid mounted on the passengers side o' the engine bay mon. Little gold/metallic colored rectangle with 3 push on connections and a large cable going to your starter. Your neutral safety switch is probrably bad. When in park one of those push on cables should go to ground and one recieves a signal from your key (voltage). Refer to your service manual for curcuit schematic.

Question

Thanks for the replies, its actually an in line 6 cyl 4 liter motor fuel injected engine............it was doing weird stuff for a while.......lights on inside car = no start from key.........lights off starting. muffler has been leaking for a bit..........just would like to disconnect all these sensors n run the motor simple style, kinda like my ole landrover back in da west indies. can I use a carb n a regular distributor on that sweet ole inline six? Why do they make things so impossible? aaargh!

Lamest thread and OP ever. Yah, Toyotas don't have any sensors to worry about...WHAT?!?

I love it when people confuse modern technology with "harder to work on". In my opinion, newer cars are easier to work on. Computer control means I don't ever have to tune a carb or adjust points ever again. I'd much rather replace a $30 sensor than spend half a day trying to dail in a carb.

I knew this had to be a joke. Sorry, but people don't make a habit of typing words like they speak...
