just put them in the speaker with the radio on and when it turns on you know you have the right combination, it wont hurt the speaker if you mix them up it just wont turn on. At least thats how I've done my last three vehicles with no problems

It'll probably work either way. If you get it wrong it won't hurt anything.

Yikes!

Lets start by asking, you are just hooking up speakers, correct? Two speakers? Two wires going to each speaker or do you only have two wires total? Are you trying to hook these up at the speakers or at the radio?

You won't have DC power on the speaker wires so a test light wont help you.

Get back to me with those answers and I'll help ya.

Just two rear sony 5 1/4" speakers with two wires. two wires to each speaker. on the speaker there is a positive and negative line. i have to splice the old line and new one and then connect them and the tape em. the part that connects to the speakers isnt connected right now. i put those one once i get the wires together.

Just test the speakers. Hook it up both ways. if its wrong it will sound different from your front speakers. I always have the same problem because no car companies use same wire color codes.

Please don't listen to this person they have no clue what there talking about. Your speakers will work wither way but youll have the Polarity wrong if you hook the positive to the negative. You can use a test light like one person said or if you just pay attention before you cut the end hooked to the factory speaker it tells you witch is positive if you look or you can take a wire and touch something metal if you get a little spark you know you have the positive wire. Or play the radio and watch the speaker if the speaker cone socks in it's positive if it blows out it's reversed polarity
