Could a bad valve cover gasket and/or a head gasket cause a vacuum leak? I saw fresh oil coming out of both and I've been having trouble starting but if I pump the pedal than it starts right up and I don't have the problem again until the next day. Replacing fuel filter regardless if that has to do with it. It's old. And I will be doing Fel-Pro of course.

Ok then. Well I am having this odd problem that would make it super hard to start (renix) as in Once a day, I will prime the pressure like I normally do the. try to turn on the engine and it won't start and I will try 3 more times and it won't work but my 4th try I pump the gas pedal it it starts right up then runs fine. Another time I pressed the gas pedal all the way down (to do the flood drain thing) and the second I take my foot of the gas pedal it starts right up. I tried bringing it to my mechanic but I couldn't reenact it because it's not something that I can trigger like a wheel shimmy or death wobble. I don't know what to look at first. The fuel filter really needs to be replaced though if that makes a difference. haven't much time to do your tips btw.

 

I would do Tips 1,3,4, and 5 completely before putting any more effort into other directions regarding your starting issue.
