Yea I did some research on other forums and found a ton of people that had the same issues as myself. I cut the hole in the mount right under the nut and just painted it to keep it from rusting too fast. I read about and saw pictures of a few members of jeep forums.com that have had this done for the past 5+years without painting over it and it still looked fine. Thanks for all of the help guys it deffinately helped.
Am I missing something here? Thats a broken off bolt, right? Drill a 1/4" hole thru it, pound a extractor in the hole, soak it in PB Blaster and twist it back out.
i've broken extractors on smaller/not as rusted bolts so i really wanted to avoid buying them for nothing. the money i saved by not buying drill bits and extractors i used on wire and weatherproof butt connectors to wire up the hella rally lights that came just bolted to the roof rack of my xj haha. http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/showt...af+spring+bolt
I did just like the guy in post#13 shows in the diagram/picture.
took no time at all. and i really don't see any problems coming from it either. now i gave the dirt and mud a place to leak out from, i had to chissel the dirt out around the nut with a flat head screw driver and hammer lol.
Cutting the hole with a jig saw is easy, then make a cover for the floor that has three or four screws holding it. Use rtv or make a gasket and next time will be a snap.
cutting through the floor to reach the front leaf spring bolt
Can you help to find where exactly to open the floor to reach the front leaf spring nut ? Many thanks !

Joey, you asked in another thread just yesterday. I posted a response showing the same thing there as Caged did here, which is cut a window in the perch. There is no need to go thru the floorpan. Its overkill.
