Default Smoke in reverse

Okay...so I've tried Googling and can't get a good answer.

2000 XJ, 3" BDS lift, 32" tires. When I put it in reverse and cut the wheel hard to back into a parking spot or something I get a good deal of smoke out of the front end. Not sure where because I'm in the Jeep. There is no smoke any other time I'm going forward or turning. Only in reverse with wheels cut hard.

I thought maybe a bad CV joint, but there's no clicking or noise that I can hear. And not sure if it would smoke that much. It just popped up from Google searches once.

Any ideas on where I should start looking? And what I should be looking for?

Thanks!
Chris

Check your power steering lines.

Are the tires smoking? lol
32"s on 3" will likely rub on every turn and cause carnage offroad.

Ha. No it's not the tires smoking. I rub a little in tight turns, but honestly not as much as you'd think.

In that case, post #2. Power steering issue, or something is making contact on a very hot surface.

Could the tires be pushing a hose or something else against something hot?

^Yes. I would park on level ground, turn wheels all the way and turn off engine. Then crawl underneath and around. We call it 'noggin pokin'
Did you check the level of steering fluid?

X 4 on the power steering lines. I once saw a chevy truck having 'flex' problems like you describe. Only during slow turns where he was rubbing the tires hard. The trans cooler lines were pissing oh so slightly and landing on the exhaust. Weird, but easy fix.
