Smart thinkin! wont be able to get the cover off if the bolts are all screwed up!

yup, gas tank skids work for all years.
skid row makes good skids. but last i heard, they went out of business. could be wrong tho?

As for the gas tank skids, what if the tank sizes were different? Would stock metal skids from the early years still fit on the later years?

i'm not sure, i haven't run across the different tank sizes from any manufacturer.
i know some custom tank skids don't need to use the gas tank straps to hold it up, while some do.
also, i think all require the removal of a stock trailer hitch so you can mount up the skid.
as for a used t-case skid, a decent custom one as in rusty's, skid row, tomkin etc. usually go around here for 100 bux.
as for a stock one, however they are much smaller in size usually goes for around 50 bux here.
i scored all my skids, a stock front engine skid, a tomkin full oil pan skid, tomkin 14x14 inch t-case skid, and stock gas tank skid, all for 120 bux. but i also bought my wp roof rack, warn winch bumper, and yellow top battery off him at the same time, so he basically just threw those in.
rusty's has the best prices that i've seen for skids with the best protection, so far....
