Just wondering what you guys think is the MOST important skid plate for the xj's. Maybe like the top 3 skids? And if its going to be easy to fab up my own?

any input helps, thanks!!

tcase, gas tank, and maybe tranny. i need to get some, but i want get a gas tank that will fit up with my reese hitch, and i dont have the money to buy a bumper for recovery. and having an 01 part of the exhaust hangs lower so an engine skid wont really work.

i always put rockers lower on the list simply because if you come down on a rock with your tcase or your gas tank, your up the creek and it's gonna screw up your whole day, whereas is you come down on your rocker panel its just body damage, you can still drive it home. thats just always been my logic about that. theres much more vital parts than your rockers i think.

get the warn tcase skid, its like 80$. the rusty's tcase skid only works with a tcase drop. that should fit, a friend of mine has one of those on his '00. skid row makes a good skid also i think. look for a belly up or full engine skid if you can. as far as sliders, AJ's offroad armor ftw.

I was lucky and my my XJ came with the stock skid plates - Engine, T-Case, and Gas tank. The Gas tank skids helps a lot!!! I have a lot of marks on the bottom of it. The Engine skid really never hitsw anything but it does help keep things like mud and rocks flying up into the engine bay. The T-case skids has notmarks on it on my XJ but I have hit the cross member a couple of times. I've made sure not to hit the rocker panels as I don't have rock rails yet but it would help if I had some. I say go to the J/Y and rob an XJ of it's stock skids...
