lots of places still list the parts on the webbernets, but are really out of stock which is probably the case with that last one. if youre not doing rocks, stock (OEM) skids are more than fine. go get some at a junkyard. i bought a front skid and tcase skid for 15 dollars.

So if I'm calling around to junkyards, is there a certain options package or model year I should be looking for to find a skid? I have a '01, what year(s) would fit mine?

Look around your local junkyards before paying 52 bucks. I know where there is an OEM front skid and gastank skid on an 88 XJ at my local junkyard, right now. I'd get them for you. I could probably pick up both for 20 bucks but, it would cost a fortune to ship them to you all the to Jersey. I am in Washington state.

I would say check for the newest XJ's you can find, the chances of them fitting are a lot better. I think the major changeover point there is '96

older ones with skids are easier to find. the front and tcase skids are all the same 87-01 (cept maybe the 242 skid, but thats really rare). gas tank skids are 87-96 and 97-01. ZJ tank skids will fit on the 97-01 XJ as well, just need to drill 2 holes.

Yes, that probably would cost a fortune to ship... I'm going to check the shipping rates on it and get back to you...anyone know how heavy they are?? I can probably figure out the dimensions just by looking at pics..

ok I looked it up...It would be about 90 bucks to ship it lol....can't we just use the teleporter?? I'm gonna call around the local yards and see what I can find.. I was there not too long ago to get a front driveshaft and didn't see any skids but I really wasn't looking for them at the moment

Salvage yards rotate parts fairly quickly, it'd be worth poking a look at on a regular basis.

I robbed my front skid and gas tank skid from the same 87 XJ that I robbed my rear Dana 44 out of. All items were a dirrect bolt into my 91.

Skid Row makes awesome skids. I think they use thicker metal than Warn or anyone else for that matter. They are really good.
