Default simple noob question.

I am looking at an 88 cherokee for my younger brother my parents and I are buying it for him and we just cant figure out what year Chrysler took over Jeep from AMC. I apologise for the noob question and thank you very much in advance for your response.

Chrysler actually bought AMC in 87. The 87 and up XJs are Chrysler vehicles, but still used the AMC Renix engine control system through 1990.

Yeah the 88 model year was the last of true amc. I dont know why but I feel lucky to have amc jeep rather than chrysler. Same thing I know but its one of those stupid things that make me happy. Because it is still on the road and runs great rather than just sitting some place rotting.

You will actually start seeing Chryco emblems on some of the cast parts as early as late 89. My 90 has a mixture of AMC logos and Chryco ones on it.
