Simple Cassette to USB conversion ?
2001 Jeep Cherokee Sport.
I've asked a similar question a while back and 'Critchfield' ? was suggested for a new receiver - but they don't ship internationally. I was using a cassette adapter to connect my old android phone which acted as an mp3 player - but the phone has died.
Can anyone suggest a simple thingy I can insert into the cassette drive and somehow play music off a USB stick ?
Thanks

You need an MP3 player like this to plug into the cassette adapter
can't play from just a thumb drive. Might just be easier and less expensive to bite the bullet and buy a new HU.

There is a BestBuy about 1.5 hours away. And from time to time I buy stuff on ebay and Amazon - but there is a lot of stuff they don't ship here. I was more concerned with finding the right plastic parts so the installation wouldn't leave holes in the dash.
For the moment I found an old HP tablet that I am using as an MP3 player. I power it from a cassette adapter. It is a little klunky but I have music.

Most of the Metra kits Best Buy uses are around $19.99 USD. You can sometimes find Scosche kits at Walmart for around $14-16 USD.
You will also need a wiring adapter to go from the factory plug to the aftermarket head unit, should you choose to go this route. They are about the same price as the dash kit.
Best Buy guarantees their installation for as long as you own the vehicle. They will also reinstall your stock radio at no charge should you decide to sell your Jeep.
Go ahead and convert. You'll be glad you did.
