Default Weak start info

My 2001 Cherokee has been starting like the battery was VERY weak. But, it starts every time. I tested my battery and alternator and they were good. Starter worked but..... So since my starter was oem I decided to put in a recon with lifetime warranty. I put new terminals on since my cables looked good. When I started it, I almost flinched. WoW like a new car now. I think the oil filter adapter had been leaking for some time before I got it and I did put in o rings. I guess after getting doused with oil the starter was going to fail. I didn't want to clean it up and it not work any better. Anyway, if your jeep has a good battery and alternator and starts sluggish or weak it might be the starter. Hope this can help someone.

Good heads up. Throw away the OEM cables and put some with some carrying capacity on there. Apparently Jeep decided to do their part at suppressing copper prices by not using enough on the later model XJ's.

There are several vendors out there that make custom high amp cable sets that are worth every penny.
