Sick XJ- Power Loss At 2000 Revs. Help please!
Hi everyone.
I'm hoping there is an expert out there who can maybe give some suggestions of what could be wrong with my 1998 Jeep Cherokee XJ 2.5 TD.
At 2000 revs in any gear, she looses power, like it's limited.
I have googled this issue and it seems others have had the same problem.
However, some have suggested to change the MAF sensor, but others have said it doesnt have a MAF sensor?
I am loathed to take it to a garage for them to charge £100's to diagnose it or change parts that don't make a difference. Plus I have no faith in them as one garage didn't want to touch it when it had another issue!
So does anyone have any thoughts on what to try first?
I'm gutted, I absolutely love this car to bits! 😕
Thanks in advance.

I believe she has a diesel. in which case fuel delivery is basically the only issue she'll see. I have no experience with the Diesel engines, but I'm guessing a Google search will help you plenty with investigation.

1st cil injector broken
Hi, your 1st cilinder injector has an electronic sensor. This one is broken. You can check by disconnecting it and measure resistance. It should be around 400 ohms. 0 ohms or no current at all tells you its gone. A new one is 440 eur, I just had this issue and got a working injector at the scrapyard for 40 eur. See photos for reference numbers.
