Default Shock Boots?

I am getting new shocks and was told not to get shock boots cause it can cause premature wear so i am asking should i get shock boots or not

Huh? premature wear? never heard that before. shock boots actually keeps dirt and grime off the shaft in turn preventing premature wear on the shaft.

shock boots keep **** out of the moving parts of the shocks, AS LONG as the boots are in good, functioning condition. If you tear them, they do the opposite, and collect dirt, water, and the mixture of mud...

I heard that if you do serious mudding, mud gets into the shock boot and sits there, causing the premature wear you heard about
