I always run the full syn rotella (5w 40) in my 4.0s with a mopar filter (090)

It has proven itself to be fantastic in 4.0s that have ran it over time through oil analysis.

My current XJ (01 with 170k) has some clatter at idle..but holds great oil pressure..not sure if its just lifter noise..or what..but im not too worried about it..

The stuff is fantastic, and cheap.
I've been running this in mine for 2 years now and it's been working great for me and have the same lifter chatter at cold start up but goes away when it's up to temp...

Not to po po on rotella but Delo 400 LE had even higher levels of zddp and is cheaper than Rotella at Walmart. Any of the 15/40s work well in the 4.0. I am just a Delo man for mine.

I bought some Delo on sale at Pep Boys in 5 gallon buckets a while back. They had a great sale on it.

Either one will make a Jeep happy.

Wix filters are cheaper on Amazon, and it works just as well whether it says Wix or Mopar on the can.

I use the same filter on my family van and its transmission filter, so I buy them in cases of 12.

Approaching 400,000 original me & wife (original purchasers) miles on our 1995 Country XJ. Since 250,000 it has a regular service* every 3,000 miles with Shell T6 Rotella 15w-40 non-synthetic (5 qts) & ProLong HD Oil Stabilizer ( 1 part) and a WIX filter . Compression on original rings in cylinders is good and she keeps lugging the family around....great stuff for the tractor-like engine that is the venerable Inline 6 4.0l HO ....I have a slight leak at the oilpan front gasket I need to replace but the Prolong and Rotella are such a gooey viscosity that they maybe allow it to ooze a drop every three days....
