Default Separated hub... What now?

So everything was smooth changing the hub until I went to remove it. This happened.
So any ideas?

That hub base is frozen on the axle. I've been cold chiseling and beating the snot out of it. Nothing.

There is a trick I have read in several posts, but have not used. It is using a 3' extension in just the right spot and turning the wheel to press the hub out. Do some searches on hub removal to get the details.

I got mine off with lots of PB blaster and a cold chisel on the front bold position.

Good luck

This works excellently, with the Jeep running there is plenty of power to do this. I used an impact socket. I'd guess that you might bend an extension.

I was also skeptical about using the extension/power steering assist method, so I used a 10 ton hydraulic puller, which worked like a charm. Luckily, I didnt separate the hub like you did, haha.

Put the bolts back in a few threads and then hit them with a dead blow hammer. Thats how I got mine off.

Don't forget to lightly sand the knuckles and apply a liberal coating of Anti-Seize to the mating surfaces.

I'm on my second large bottle of anti-seize now. If you own a Jeep or a boat, it's required.

Not much gets put back on my XJ without it now.

That is one I will remember when I do the other side next week.

Agreed. I'm still on my first but there is no way I won't use it almost everytime.
