Uh - if it cannot dissolve carbon on the bench soaking it overnight, what, makes anyone think it will in 20 minutes - 'cause you can't see it's not working?
Adding any liquid while it's running, water, grape juice, Vodka - anything - shatters the hot red hot carbon from the cooler liquid hitting it. That allows a bigger chunk to get under a valve so the piston can hit it. Valve stems look like Pretzels from the sudden cooling. If that's what you want, do it!
All Petroleum product - plastic is too - would you put that in too?

I had a problem with my injectors and I tried seafoam in the TB. It might have worked if the injectors were good. I ended up pulling them and cleaning them with carb cleaner. I made a little tester rig with a nine volt battery to see if they "fired". One would not and I had to buy a new one, 50 bucks ouch. Also, I did change the oil when I was done, better safe than sorry.
who cares, a bottle is like 6 bucks. seafoam works enough for me. its the first thing i do with any new car. on the xj i cleaned the carbon from my throttle body with the spray bottle. ran a bottle through the vacuum lines and now my jeep runs smoother and the exhaust drone is not as bad as it used to be either.

Most users on here will vouch for seafoam. I myself have used it in multiple vehicles and all smoothed out the engine. Maybe it's just what's in it but growing up I've heard ppl put ATF in their oil to clean it without harming the engine. Idk why some ppl are against seafoam, but it does help, it's cheap and many people will tell their tales of it.

Then down the road a few days or weeks they complain their lifters, bearings, etc are making noise, or compression is low, blaming it on the design of the 4.0, miles, ethanol, or the wife.
They never think of the fact they intentionally made the oil stop lubricating properly or even thought about they intentionally made a chunk of carbon hold a valve open a little till it burned.
The cures for most everything on this forum - add some "motor in a can" and "clean all the grounds" -- using logic" is obscene.
The normal additives in gasoline prevent and dissolve varnish in the raw fuel system, and SAFELY burn off any NORMAL carbon that collects in the chambers. If cheapo gas or lack of maintenance had created excess carbon it will slowly burn it off SAFELY - After the cause of the rich condition is cured.
The deposits in the crankcase will dissolve with frequent oil changes with QUALITY OIL and QUALITY FILTERS - not fake oil with long overdue oil changes.
BUT because AutoChina sells something, it must be good!
Yup, it's only $6.00 a can, how much is a valve job? How much for new bearings?

About puting it in the oil it won't hurt the oil. My 90 civic hatch has had a whole bottle in the oil for 3k miles cause i got another motor and wanted to see what would happen. And iv also done the ATF thing to on my DSM no more lifter tick. Id run it in all 3 just do the oil couple hundred miles befor its do to be changed.
