Recomdations for a scan tool pre 90 ?Is this system a OBD-1 thanx

Not much info to be had on OBDI.
Read any codes from form the check engine light self test.

Search OBDI on Ebay and you will find some cheaper ones.
I was looking for one to interface with my laptop and found a bluetooth one.

 

^^^ is incorrect. 90 was the last year for Renix and the computer stores on data, thus no codes. 1991 was the first year for OBDI and the codes are available here on Cherokee Forum.

 

try to pick up the OTC monitor 4000 on ebay
i just sold 2 on there, its old but it works good

No, I think you mis-understood, It is called the "OTC monitor 4000 enhanced" the 4000 is not the price, it is the model number, I sold mine for about 150-200 bucks each with all software.
