Post Salty Carpets...

My front floorboard's carpet area is so bad with salt that you need a driver to break it off the floor. Does any one know how I can try to get this out? Just wondering, If I had to replace carpet I might try to go cut and formed rubber. Just curious.

I bet water would get it out...But yeah the salt is just the start of your problem here. By now you probably have salty carpet on solid rust haha

When I got my XJ, All you could see from the bottom was carpet, so you're doing better than I was. lol

But if the floor is soft and has that much salt in there, you will be looking at some metal replacement. I just got my floors done, and no permanent carpet will be going in, just floor mats. I even chopped up the original carpet to make sure I didn't do something dumb, like put it back in.

Im going to taking my carpet out tomorrow. Hope mine isn't rusted out too! I think I will be ok though. The underside is in great condition and even has all the factory undercoat on it still! I have to remove it to get to the rear shock bolts that broke so its all going!
