Sagging rear end?
I have a 2000 Stock Cherokee If I look at the leaf springs with no load they look straight. When i hook my boat trailer up in realy sags. I had a 94 cherokee before this one and it was the same. Are the stock leaf springs on Cherokees junk? Im only hooking up a small boat with about 150- 200 lbs tonug weight. I have alot of ideas but not sure what to do.
1) I could take my leaf springs to a shop have them rebent and a leaf added for about $300. But I think the leafs would sag again soon after?
2) Add a leaf or helper spring. I heard this makes a rough ride. $40
3) Air shocks? I dont know much about them but there only about $70. But it seems they would be taking to much of the load.
4) Air bags (between spring and frame) ???
5)New leaf springs and shocks. JC wittney has a pair for about $200
I realy dont want a lift but the rear end could come up about 1 1/2"-2". I use my jeep as a family vehicle. It gets me in anywhere in the PA woods I want to go and is great for getting to the ski slopes in the winter. Im just not into the serious off roading. So How do I stop the sag but still have a smooth rid on the pavement?

i got my jeep about a month ago, its a 96 country with 143k on it, the leafs are arching the wrong way. i was just going to do a 2" BB but it was easier just to get a 3.5" lift kit with an all new leaf pack than getting new stock leafs or dealing with aals. if your just gonna stay with a stock height, and want to do it correctly, find some stock height heavy duty leafs, like the ones you found one JCW. aals sag very quickly, especially on already flat leaf packs. another option you could do is bastard packs, which is mixing different pick up truck leafs from junk yards and throwing them on, its a really popular thing to do for budget builds, tons of info on bastard packs on cf if you so choose that route, thats more for 4+ inches of lift for cheap tho. im more comfortable with brand new leafs imo. whats your budget for this?
I could spend $300 on springs and shocks at jc. Just wanted to know if there were any alternative /cheaper routes. I do want it to last longer then a year and be able to hull my boat without worring about draging.

Add-A-Leafs, and IMO big no-nos. If your willing to spend $300 and you dont want a lift and you want to do it "correctly" buying new heavy duty leafs is prolly the best way to go. We might get some other people totally arguing that but whatever.
