I've read that in some cases, disabling the ABS will render my brakes useless, is it safe to just pull the ABS fuse?

From what I've read on here, you should be able to and be fine, seen a few guys mention disabling it right before going off roading and then re-installing afterwards.

Don't want to do that with the Bendix ABS system, but that was gone after '91. You should be fine pulling the fuse. I normally disable ABS on my stuff, I hate it.

Yes, ABS systems are designed to default to "normal" (non-ABS) braking if the system is disabled or non-functional. Your brakes will work just fine, though they will lock up in certain situations of course.

Yeppers. Except as I mentioned earlier, the Bendix 9. If you disable that you'll lose the power assist since the same pump that operates the ABS also supplies the brake boost. That can only be disabled by removing the whole system and swapping in a later model booster and master cyl.
