Rustys 2" Front Receiver Install
Well after wheeling at Corbett & getting my **** kicked, I decided I needed a winch. Problem is, there really aren't many front bumpers I like for Cherokee, well none that I would actually buy. I could build my own, but I just don't know, I love the look of the factory bumper.
So I decided to roll with that - just keep it modified stock!
So to mount the winch, I'm gonna use a 2" receiver winch plate, and hook that up to my newly installed Rustys Front end Receiver. The Rustys' Kit also comes with 2 10,000 lbs rated tow hooks, and the entire unit bolts directly to frame. The best part was there was no cutting or drilling of any kind! Complete bolt on process.
Removing the front bumper on Cherokee is remarkably easy. Just be sure to disconnect the vaccum hose on passenger side in bumper
The Kit laid out..
Finished product
Install can be done with average hand tools, however having an extensive socket & rachet set proved helpful as always..
Next update will be the winch & mounting plate in a few weeks!

Although it works, i don't know how strong it would be on hard pulls. I am cheap and want to do things as cheap as possible but when it comes to recovery, cheap is not the way to go.
There's another option other than hitches:

The backbone system is perfect for those who cannot afford a bumper or like the way it looks stock. You get a winch plate, beefed up steering mount, and extraction points (d-rings) all in one. The price isn't bad either, being about 1/2 that of a real bumper.
