Default Rugged Ridge or Advanced Adapters

Looking at SYE's

Have narroed the field to TWO.

The Rugged Ridge and the Advance Adapters.

Anyone have any opinions/reviews on either?
Good, bad, otherwise?

I currently have the transfercase apart on the workbench, so most of the major work is already done.

Would like some input for either one of these kits BEFORE I commit myself to one.

Domestic vs Import .... that's one argument

Ease of replacement parts is another.

So is the fact that you're not dealing with a "re-boxing" company.

My suggestion is AA all the way.

It's not made by AA. The RR is an Omix ADA unit made overseas. There was a time when AA purchased a few castings (shortage) from Omix and it ended up biting AA with a few warranty issues over the output housing.

It's called a "copy" for a reason. So it looks just like another product. This doesn't mean it's always an exact clone. I've seen splines that didn't fit right, non concentric shafts, rough surface finish, etc.

If people are going to complain about jobs being lost overseas (speaking in general here) ... then why not support a company here in the states that is doing business with other state-side manufacturers (in addition to doing their own machining)?

Yes ... I sell Advance Adapters products. No ... I am not biased becasue of it. It's hard enough to get everyday items without finding them overseas --- here, we have known product with local ties, made or machined here in the US and everyone keeps going for the cheaper knockoffs.

A customer is paying a little extra money for higher quality control & standards. They are also paying for "after the install" tech support from both the vendor and the manufacturer.

Here is an excellent example. I had a customer contact me with a Brand XXX SYE with a leaking output seal. I called re-seller and asked for the part number for the seal. My response was " we don't know ... it comes from the factory overseas with the seal already installed " Not exactly the best support a customer can get.

If anyone would like a price on the AA or JB Conversions SYE kits .... give me a shout back channel. They will be more costly then generic ones on the market -- but you will get exactly what you pay for.

FYI --- this does not mean that every single AA product is made in the USA. Logistically ... it would be impossible, not to mention the costs involved. However, they request (and receive) tighter tolerances from the parts they do outsource.

Joe

AA all the way. they actually knew what they were talking about over the phone and were very friendly. i actually talked to them for about 15 minutes, 4 of which were about the SYE.

yeah, AA was my first choice.
but the rugged ridge one is built very well, considering. and it is exactly like the AA with the replacement shaft and ease of installation. however, i haven't done mine yet. i'm going with a 231/300 doubler.

What about the Tom Woods SYE with d-shaft?
AA is the way to go otherwise, their main location is about 45mins from me (=
