try an 18mm 12pt socket.

i use a 19mm 12pt socket all the time to get those lock nuts off. easy as pie.

never weld or use heat on an inflated tire/rim.

i figured if it is rounded. you can beat a smaller 12 point on and it has more gripping power and can easily fit over the nut.
that is my idiot logic, thank you very much...

I had that happen on my wifes GC when I put her winter wheels on u can drill it out really easily with a good quality drill bit and about fifteen minutes. Start with a 1/2 inch to get a good starter hole. After getting a pilot started go back smaller and step up each time u reach the end of the nut. Super easy to drill like this then of course u need a stud but it was like ten bucks for a stud and ten new solid acorn nuts. Good luck.

Hammer a 18mm or 17mm 6 point IMPACT socket on and use even force to break it loose. One hand on end of wrench other on ratchet head. I do this all the time for a tire shop next to my job.

No standing on the wrench! Thats how it gets effed up in the first place because of uneven torque.

The quality of the tools used plays a part in this, too. Some of the tools out there are made of soft material, to crappy tolerances.

My 18mm Snap-On socket gets them off every time.

No offense meant, I've just seen a lot of people try doing that. I don't think I've ever stripped the corners off with a proper sized 6 pt socket.

ACTUALLY, The idea with the undersized 12 pt is that when you hammer it on the points cut their own grooves in the nut (like a spline) and locks the socket to the nut to be able to get it off. I've done this numerous times personally.

I was using the proper size, I used 19mm 6point until the dumb caps pulled off and when that happened it deformed the nut itself so when I went to put the 18mm on it didint fit super snug, neither did any of the other sockets I had, metric or standard

12 point chrome sockets suck IMHO
I use 6 point impact sockets to get them off and it works every
time.
Hammer the ***** on and break it off with a 1/2 breaker bar and your done. I've been doing it this way for years for the tire shop next door since they like to use the same size socket on everything.

You want something like this

But if you don't just drill it out that the easiest way start small and work up to it. As long as your center in the lug you'll be fine.

This happened to me. Chisel failed. Took way too much time never got the job done. I used a drill. Tool about 5 min and it didn't damage the rim.
