If I move it up or down it does nothing to the idle. It was still at 3000. So I disconnected it and idle returned to normal. I'm going to replace the TPS.

I would lower it .2 at a time and try it. Like I said I hit the sweet spot. If I go .2 up or down my idle races.

A really easy check:
There is a gang of wires coming up the front of the engine that run up around the manifold heat shield to the injectors. (at least there is on my 90). The edge of that shield can cut into those wires, sometimes causing all sorts of odd problems. Blew the mouse nest in my air cleaner right out the front through the grille. I drove through confetti. No sign of mouse.

PM me your email address and I'll send you some simple instructions to set your TPS accurately, and you can check the engine and/or trans side of the TPS separately, depending upon which problem you're chasing. Many instructions have you cheking the trans side of the TPS when your problem is on the engine side. One side can be good, the other bad.
Included in the instructions is a 15 second test to verify the ground circuit for the TPS, CTS, IAT, and MAP is good. If that circuit has too much resistance, the ECU receives false signals from all 4 sensors.

Dont forget op has a.5spd. According to my calculations the guideline is about 16%? I have an auto so I adjust the tcu side to 83% which gives me .62 at the ecu side. Moved it up .1 or .2 and its perfect........ my input voltage ecu side is 5.01.... so my ecu side does not go with the %rule but it starts and idles perfect. There's a download here http://www.lunghd.com/Downloads_and_Links/Downloads.htm that explains adjustment.
