Default rod knock

okay so just alittle back ground, i recently purchased a 2001 cherokee sport with 151,xxx miles. when driving it runs fine no hesitation etc ( oil pressure goes up and down alittle, changed the oil and think im about 1/2 a quart short atm)

now heres what ive done thus far

fluids were FILTHY

oil was very black and now has been changed with 5 quarts mobil 1 full synthetic and a new filter.

air filter changed

fuel injector cleaner added

coolant flushed ( going to flush again this week to get completely clean) the coolant seems to have had stop leak in it LOTS of it, but i cant find any signs of a coolant leak anywhere, possibly a previous problem? or can it come from somewhere else in the motor?

i was told by a mechanic that the vehicle has a slight knock in the motor, but the only thing i hear is a slight "tick" which on my previous cherokee was a valve tap ( i believe, truck never broke down).

so my question is, is there a reason for me to be concerned? the vehicle drives fine, the sound doesnt get louder upon speed or slowing down, and there is no hesitation in the vehicles movement. just alittle confused!

I wouldn't be concerned. There's a difference between tap and knock. If you have heard both you'd know right away but if oil pressure is good and doesn't really fluctuate on its own I wouldn't worry. Also unless they changed something from 90 to your year it should take 6 quarts

im going to add another quart first thing in the morning, before i changed the oil the pressure didnt change at all, is it possible its fluctuating because im a quart short? its been moving based on how hard im on the gas ( past day or so) between 30-50. its also not leaking a drip of any fluids. sorry for the jumbled post im half awake haha

It should idle about 15 or above and as you rev it should go up so that sounds good. If it fluctuates while idling or holding steady revs that may indicate something. Make sure to check the level before you add because it might have changed. It sounds good though. What weight are you using btw
