rod bearings

Default rod bearings

ok so i pulled my oil pan it replace the gasket and I took one rod cap off and pulled the bearing out and I have noticed that there is .010 on it is that oversized from the factory this is on a 91 and if so can someone give me so info on changing them out because they have some wear on them thank you.....

Piece of cake, but how do you know they are worn? Did you measure them? .010 0versize could be a factory thing or motor may have been rebuilt. If they are .010 put .010 back in....don't monkey around with other sizes trying to get tighter clearances. As long as your between .0015 and .003 your good to go.

Might've rolled out of the factory that way.
Look at the stamping on the machined tab on the block near the coil, between and underneath cylinders 2 and 3.
The first digit is the year code.
Digits 2 and 3 are the month code.
After that you'll see some letters like P, M, PM.
Those are the OEM bearing sizes.
P = One or more rod bearings is 0.01 undersize
M = all crank bearings are 0.01 undersize
PM = all crank bearings AND one or more rod bearings are 0.01 undersize.
B means the cylinder bores are 0.01 oversize
C means all camshaft bearing bores are 0.01 oversize
No letters means all sizes are nominal.
