I have a 96 Cherokee sport with 145k on it. It has a new distributor with a new cap and rotor, new champion plugs, oil change, clean air filter, new intake/exhaust gasket and new gas tank and filter. I also switched the IAC out with one out of my 94 and still nothing, but the one from the 96 works fine on the other jeep. It starts up every time but idle surges almost to stall then goes back up, will stall when trying to drive it. I've searched but can't find this exact situation. Any help is appreciated.

 

Did you clean your throttle body? I would do that, and also test fuel pressure.

 

The throttle body was cleaned out when I changed it. And what would proper fuel pressure be at the rail?

 

Hopefully someone else owns a '96 and can tell you for sure, but off the top of my head, I think it's about 50 psi. Do you have a service manual?

 

I got a fuel pressure gauge today and i am getting 48-49 pounds with key on and with the jeep running.
