I have Rocker Skins. 1/4 inch steel bent and welded to the rockers. Keeps a stock look with all the same protection. I would post pics but my PB account is out at the moment!

its best NOT to hook them to the unibody. if your going to do rock sliders the first step is to install frame stiffeners.

are frame stiffeners necessary with rock sliders, if so is it a good idea to design them myself.

I know im gonna get flamed for this but whatever. I welded mine straight to the unibody. Yes everyone, I know I know...but so far its worked for me. Theyve taken some abuse too. I am gonna reinforce them though when I plate up the frame rails next weekend.

These rails have an inner square tube with an outer round tube, they mount to the pinch seams with 5 bolts (conventional bolts and lock nuts) and to the "frame" rails with four self-tapping bolts. They'll hold up the entire weight of that side of the vehicle, as well as I have been able to rock the vehicle back and forth standing on them. I don't know what the thickness of them is as I bought them pre-made.

This is actually the first time I have ever heard this comment.

And no they are not neccessary. I have seen many a jeeps with out any frame stiffeners on them have rock rails.

You can chalk this up to the nice to have block but not have to have!
