right hand drive engine replacement

right hand drive engine replacement
my wife works as a rural mail carrier and i found a 94 thats factory right hand drive but it needs an engine can i use an engine from a standard left hand drive jeep of the same year? if not any idea on what it will cost just want to get it up and running so it will be there when she needs it every once and a while any help would be much appreciated

Agreed on rebuilding it if possible, but otherwise yes a left hand drive engine will work. Judging from pictures of rhd engine bays, the engine and most of the accessories are actually in the same place. The only real changes I see are they moved the brake booster to the right side and the A/C drier/etc. to the left side. The accessories look to be in different spots (minus the P/S pump), but the block should be identical so you can just bolt your accessory brackets on.

well i havent bought it yet i wanted to see if someone owned one that could tell me but i figured that the block would be the same and im not sure of the condition of the current engine all i know is it is making a slapping/knocking noise the guy is asking 1700 for it and the lowest he would go would be like 1400 i think thats high but it looks to have very little rust on it
