Default right front break locking up??!

96 4x4 sport xj. about 45 minutes ago my right front break started to grab while driving down the road and is holding tight and making me pull hard right now. has anyone else had this problem and how did you fix it? it is my DD so any help is very much appreciated. i do have abs but the light is not on and break pads are about 8 months old with 6k miles

Were the caliper guide pins greased when the pads were serviced? Did you replace hardware? Or were pads just slapped on.

Probably a sticking caliper or bad flex hose. Open the bleeder- if you get a shot of brake fluid and the caliper releases, it's likely the rubber hose.

Did you clean and lube the caliper sliders? They're inside the rubber boots- the mounting bolts pass through them. They should slide back and forth with little effort. If they do not you can push the center tube out of the rubber boots, clean it and lube with brake grease. If they stick so will your caliper.

The previous suggestions all make sense. I recently replaced my calipers with reman ones because they were only $16 ea with core. I believe auto value had that price. V
