I have 1995 cherokee xj manual , my reverse lights used to work pretty good but i noticed lately they stopped working , i looked underneath the car passenger side there is a switch not connected an up right above the transmission a broken one i dont know if they suppose to be connected cause it doesnt seem they would go together cause its really hard to reach here are some pics , any one can help would be appreciated
If it happened recently, that first connector isnt the problem. It hasnt been connected in years by the looks of it. First guess, being a manual, is the backup lamp switch on the transmission. I dont remember which transmission i was looking at, but the switch was on the passenger side, near the tail. Not much help, but its a start, i guess.
Yeah i dont think those connectors on the pic has anything to do with the reverse lights , i Checked the backup sensor and it was connected maybe its gone bad and its time to be replaced , cause im not getting any signal of having electric on the reverse socket ..
The easiest way to check the switch itself would be to unplug the connector and bridge it with a wire (not too thin), then go check the lights. If they work, the switch is bad.
